Voter ID for Absentee Ballots

Who is eligible for Absentee Voting?
  • All registered voters are permitted to vote absentee under Florida law.
  • A member of the voter's immediate family or legal guardian may also request an absentee ballot for a voter, if directly instructed to do so by the voter.
What types of ID are required to apply for Absentee Voting?

First-time FL voters who did not meet the federal ID requirements when registering to vote must include one of the following:

  • A copy of a current and valid photo ID (Florida driver's license, state ID card, U.S. passport, student ID, employee ID, military ID)
  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the voter
