Voter ID for Absentee Ballots
ID requirements for absentee ballots are set by each state and can be less stringent than ID requirements when voting in person. See below for details on absentee ballot eligibility and what ID, if any, is needed to vote absentee.
Who is eligible for Absentee Voting?
- Any registered Georgia voter can vote absentee. Request mail in ballot.
What types of ID are required to apply for Absentee Voting?
First-time GA voters who did not meet the federal ID requirements when registering to vote must include one of the following:
- A copy of a current and valid photo ID (Georgia driver's license, state ID card, US passport, student ID, employee ID, military ID)
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows voter’s name and Georgia address
Mail or drop off application at County Registrar’s office.
Ballot accepted if signature on ballot matches signature on voter registration record.
