Creative ideas for Voter Education in Southeastern Ohio
This week we received an email from Liz Shaw, President of Indivisible Appalachian Ohio in Athens, that absolutely made our day. We had to share some of the clever and creative ways that this group has found to educate their community about voting, get them registered, and confirm that they have a valid ID for voting. Plus they're distributing 10,000 of our Ohio Voter ID Information Wallet Cards! Check out the beautiful photos Liz sent to us of IAO in action at events throughout the region, including farmers markets, community dinners, at coffee shops, brewpubs, malls, and college campuses.
Avalanche Pizza tapes a OH Voter ID Information Card to the top of each box it delivers - and their biggest customer base is Ohio University, so plenty of students are getting VoteRiders cards! Athens is a college town, and the Office of Campus Engagement dropped by one of our registration stations and took back 1000 of the cards to give to club leaders and residence life staff. One professor on sabbatical visited the classes of her colleagues to register students and pass out the cards.
