Prior to joining VoteRiders, Reid Magney was the public information officer for the state of Wisconsin’s nonpartisan elections agency for over 12 years. His areas of responsibility included managing the agency’s communications, social media, agency website development, public records, records management, and supporting the six-member, bipartisan commission. In the last several years Reid concentrated his efforts on election security and misinformation/disinformation, including developing public education campaigns, crisis communications toolkits, and tabletop training exercises for Wisconsin’s 1,922 local election officials. Previously, Reid was an award-winning reporter and an editor at newspapers in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa, covering elections, politics and government. He has a Bachelors degree from Cornell College, where he met and married his wife, Janine Melrose. They love baseball at all levels, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, Madison Mallards, and youth teams. They also enjoy live music, vegetable gardening and home improvement projects.
