Pinney Allen has been a leader in the legal, education, and philanthropic communities for over 40 years. One of the first women attorneys at Alston & Bird, LLP, she helped lead its growth to national prominence. After a 30-year legal career, Pinney became the Head of Atlanta Girls’ School, one of the most racially and socio-economically diverse independent schools in the country.
In addition to other philanthropic work around girls, education and the arts, Pinney has committed significant time to voter assistance. She served as Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Voter Protection efforts for four years. Pinney’s related activities expanded to Miami where she saw the critical demand for this work.
Pinney, a native of Iowa and then Missouri, received her A.B and J.D. degrees from Harvard University. She recently moved from Atlanta to Pebble Beach, California, with her Harvard classmate and husband of 40 years, Buddy Miller.
