Alaska ID requirements for absentee ballots

In person voting has been canceled for the April 4th presidential primary due to COVID-19. Voters who registered as Democrats befoer February 18th will automatically receive an mail-in ballot.

Who is eligible for absentee voting?

  • Any registered Alaska voter can apply for an absentee ballot and vote by mail.

Do you need to submit ID with your absentee ballot request?

ONE of these three options is required with your application. 

  • Social Security Number
  • Alaska Driver's License Number
  • Alaska State ID Number

A copy of your ID is not necessary. There is an option on the absentee voting application to check if the individual has none of these identifiers.

 

Do you need to submit ID with your ballot?

No. Be sure to sign the ballot envelope and have it witnessed following instructions.
