Who is eligible for Absentee Voting?
- Any registered Hawaii voter can vote absentee.
- Voters may mail in their absentee ballot or vote by absentee ballot in person at the office of your City or County Clerk
Do you need to submit ID with your absentee ballot request?
First-time Hawaii voters who did not include a copy of their ID with their voter registration form must include acceptable ID with the absentee ballot application.
Acceptable forms of ID include:
- A current and valid photo ID that shows voter’s name (driver's license, US passport, student ID, military ID, work ID, tribal ID)
- A current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that shows voter’s name and address.
Do you need to submit ID with your ballot?
No, but the signature on the vote-by-mail ballot must match the voter registration signature.
If you registered to vote by mail and are voting by absentee ballot in your first federal election, you must enclose a copy of your photo ID or document bearing your name and residence address in the envelope with your voted ballot.
