New Jersey ID requirements for absentee ballots

New Jersey's Governor announced that all voting for the June primary will be by mail. Details have not been announced.

Who is eligible for Absentee Voting?

Any registered New Jersey voter may apply for an absentee ballot and vote by mail.

Do you need to submit ID with your absentee ballot request?

You must provide either a State-issued ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security Number. If you do not have either of these numbers, you must enter in Section 6: "I do not have a Social Security Number or State-issued ID number."

Do you need to submit ID with your ballot?

No, but the signature on the vote-by-mail ballot must match the voter registration signature.

If you registered to vote by mail and are voting by absentee ballot in your first federal election, you must enclose a copy of your photo ID or document bearing your name and residence address in the envelope with your voted ballot.
