Can you use a student ID to vote in Alabama?

Yes! Alabama accepts student or employee IDs from colleges and universities in the state. That includes postgraduate technical and professional schools.

Your student ID must have your photo and be unexpired.

Can you vote without an ID in Alabama?

If you are a registered Alabama voter and do not bring an acceptable ID to the polling place, you can vote a regular ballot if:

  • you are positively identified by two elections officials

AND

  • these officials sign a sworn statement identifying you.

Otherwise, you may cast a provisional ballot. You will need to take additional steps and provide an acceptable photo ID for your provisional ballot to be counted.
