Jenny McKenney

North Carolina State Coordinator

Jenny McKenney grew up in Western North Carolina, where she developed her passion for social justice and drive to be a resource to her community. Before joining VoteRiders, Jenny held various roles in the nonprofit and public sectors, serving North Carolina as a nonprofit communications professional, educator, college adviser, and direct service provider for families experiencing homelessness. In her most recent role as SOLVE Communications Fellow at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, Jenny helped facilitate a network of over 200 voting rights organizations in eleven Southern states to align organizing and communications strategies and combat attacks on access to the ballot box. Jenny earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from North Carolina State University, concentrating her studies on social inequality. In her free time, Jenny enjoys creative writing and live music. She stays active by playing soccer and hiking in North Carolina’s beautiful state parks.
