Jeffrey Kampelman is a semi-retired lawyer based in Washington, D.C. He provides guidance and financial advice (on a pro bono basis) to small, not- for-profit organizations. Jeff’s interest in voting rights began when, as a 9-year-old, he witnessed the fight for Senate passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Jeff has worked on the staff of several political campaigns, including for the General Counsel of the Carter/Mondale Re-Election Committee. Later, he co-designed a public policy forum (referred to as “The National Issues Convention”), after which he and a former CBS News producer worked on political programming proposals. Jeff was an election observer in North Dakota, Florida, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. He served as a founding board member of The Governance Institute and of the Jenny McKean Moore Fund for Writers, where he has been Vice President and Treasurer for 45 years. Jeff is a graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School.
